Privacy & cookie policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data GadgetPricer (gadgetpricer.com) collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it plain.

Who is responsible

GadgetPricer is operated by Phil Jeffries, TW3 4FH, London, United Kingdom, which is the controller of your personal data. The easiest way to reach us about anything in this policy is the contact form.

What we collect and why

Product searches

When you search, the product name you type is sent to our server and passed on to eBay, to our Amazon data provider, and to Anthropic (the Claude AI service we use to estimate prices when live data is not available) so that results can be returned. Please don’t type personal information into the search box. We keep the prices found for each search, with no name or email attached, to build price-history charts. We also use your approximate country, taken from your IP address, to choose the right currency and stores; your IP address is not stored with your search.

Price alerts

If you set a price alert we store your email address, the product and your target price, and send emails through our email provider. We ask you to confirm by clicking a link, and every email contains an unsubscribe link. We keep the alert until you unsubscribe. Legal basis: your consent.

Contact messages

If you write to us, we store your name, email address, subject and message so we can reply. A hidden field and a timing check on the form filter out spam; they do not collect personal data. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you.

Analytics and advertising (only if you agree)

With your consent we use Google’s measurement and advertising tags (Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google Ads). They record things like the pages you view, your approximate location, your device and browser, and whether you clicked through to eBay or Amazon, and they set cookies such as _ga and _gcl_au. We use this to understand which pages work and to measure whether our ads lead to clicks. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

If you decline, those cookies are not set. Google’s tags still load and may receive limited signals that do not use cookies, such as the fact that a page was opened.

Fonts

The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google’s servers and your IP address is sent to Google when a page loads, whatever your cookie choice.

Links to eBay, Amazon and Vinted

When you click an eBay or Amazon link, that retailer may set its own cookies and tell us if you went on to buy, so we can earn a commission. It costs you nothing extra. What they collect is covered by their own privacy policies. Vinted links are not affiliate links.

Storage on your device

The site saves your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage, and caches pages with a service worker so the site loads faster and still opens on a weak connection. Both are essential and stay on your device.

Who we share data with

We do not sell personal data. Some of these providers are based outside the UK and the EEA; where that is the case, transfers rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep data

Your rights

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal data; to restrict or object to how we use it; to receive a copy in a portable format; and to withdraw consent at any time (use the cookie settings link above, or the unsubscribe link in any alert email). Use the contact form to make a request. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

GadgetPricer is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page.
